Best Sights & Activities -(Public Golf Courses)
Amelia Island Plantation Oakmarsh
(Sights & Activities - Public Golf Courses)
3000 1st Coast HwyAmelia Island FL 32034 904-277-5907
Description:
AMELIA ISLAND. Incredibly difficult, this Dye design features narrow fairways and tricky greens. With fairway bunkers pinching many of these landing areas, accurate placement off the tee will get you heading in the right direction. Playing from these bunkers can lead to a long day. With hazards guarding most of these greens, off line approaches typically find trouble. You can take some chances and find several good birdie opportunities, but miss the shot and you will be looking at a big number.
Amelia Island Plantation Ocean Links
(Sights & Activities - Public Golf Courses)
3000 1st Coast HwyAmelia Island FL 32034 904-277-5907
Description:
AMELIA ISLAND. With several very short par-4s you can expect to be putting for birdie if you can keep the ball out of trouble off the tee and hit some solid approach shots. Length is not a major concern here; however, the small landing areas and well-guarded greens will test your every shot. Several holes were built on large dunes overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, so the scenery here is spectacular.
Bent Creek Golf Course
(Sights & Activities - Public Golf Courses)
10440 Tournament LnJacksonville FL 32222 904-779-0800
Description:
This player-friendly course features open fairways with little trouble. Large landing areas allow golfers to hit a variety of shots and still find the short grass. With rolling hills throughout the design, you may encounter several awkward lies. These greens are large in size but only moderately sloped and average in speed, so get the flat stick working early, and you can make some putts here.
Cimarrone Golf & Country Club
(Sights & Activities - Public Golf Courses)
2800 Cimarrone BlvdJacksonville FL 32259 904-287-2000
Description:
Get loosened up before you get to the first tee, as the first hole is a dogleg par-5 with a tee shot that must carry 200 yards over water and marsh to reach the fairway. Hit a couple of good shots to begin with and you can get the round off to a good start. With 17 intertwined lakes and marshes here, you can probably assume a lost ball will be inevitable. Incredibly scenic, the natural surroundings here are some of the most beautiful you will ever see.
Eagle Harbor Golf Club
(Sights & Activities - Public Golf Courses)
2217 Eagle Harbor PkwyOrange Park FL 32073 904-269-9300
Description:
With water in play on every hole and a number of bunkers incorporated into the design, there is enough trouble here to challenge you. However not so much trouble that the course is not enjoyable. These fairways are on the narrow side, so accuracy off the tee is a must if you want to hit the sloped greens in regulation. With several multi-tiered putting surfaces, you can expect to see some testy putts.
