ATLANTIC BEACH. Looking for Jacksonville's best poured pint? Poll locals ­ the folks who'd really know ­ and chances are good they'll point you in the direction of this Emerald Isle charmer, located at the Beaches. Indeed, this is the closest thing to an Irish pub you'll get in the Jax area unless you book a flight to Dublin, so make plans to stop in for a night of good food, cold stout and, if you're a wee lucky, maybe even some live music. And as for the odd name ... well, it's not really that odd when you know the history (it's a derivative of the surnames Flynn and Tiernan).

DOWNTOWN. The Brits know how to pull off a pub, this much is for sure, and the London Bridge Pub in downtown Jax is a good example of that. A place built on the foundation social supping and sipping, this watering hole is well-respected for its beer selection and relaxing ambiance. Toss back a few pints, shoot a game or two of cricket, chat about the Premiership and let the night progress at a leisurely pace ­ that's how the pub life goes! As for eats, they've got tasty pub grub every day and terrific lunch specials five days a week.

JAX BEACH. Located just across from the pier, Lynch's (affectionately called "LIP" by regulars) is a great place to get a taste of Ireland on the beach. Founded by a native Irishman ­ the late great "Des" Michael Lynch hailed from County Louth ­ the pub sports an interior that's decorated with as many Irish artifacts as he could transport from home. The kitchen features traditional morsels like corned beef and cabbage, shepherds pie and even a hearty breakfast (available as brunch).
